Kitchen Remodeling Challenges

The time has come to put a fresh face on your kitchen and you have gotten several estimates. The amount of money that it is going to cost could send your first child to college! Remodeling your kitchen can be a big challenge but the money you save can make the difference between having a new kitchen and waiting a few more years. Before you decide to tackle this job, consider some of the areas that might change your mind.

Electrical

No doubt you have decided on placing more lighting throughout the kitchen to brighten up cooking areas and to bring about an overall distinction of your new look. Wiring is an area that you should not take lightly. Having adequate power supply on your kitchen breaker is the first area you need to have measured. A second breaker may be in order.

Flooring

With all of the selections of flooring material on the market today, unless you are choosing a piece of linoleum, this could be a difficult area to perfect. Ceramic tile, heated floors, measuring and balancing the sub floor are just a few considerations to make before beginning the challenge of a new floor design.

Plumbing

A new sink and kitchen counter may be in order and there are more than just the sunken models that you probably currently have. There are now designer basins that set atop a counter, are flush with the counter and have designer faucets and mechanical sprayers, water purifiers and other gadgets that you are not aware of. Also check to see if you are going to have to re-plumb under the sink to allow for different sized drains and pipes.
